Esquimalt High School teachers and staff hold virtual dance.

Teachers, students and administrators should be going back into the school this week, after all, spring break is officially over.

With the province’s recent announcement that all in-class learning will be suspended indefinitely as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, however, that won’t be happening any time soon.

So instead of sitting at home and doing nothing, a handful of staff at Esquimalt High School decided to find a creative way to have some fun.

Cue the music and get set for the Esquimalt High virtual dance party, social distancing style.

In the video, staff can be seen dancing to the song Coincidance by James Manzello.

Judging by the 13 staff who took part, it seems that costumes were encouraged. Sunglasses, fitness attire, Pac-Man and even a minion graced the screen during the video.

The lip-syncing was nearly on par with the dance moves as well and Angela Coutts, a teacher at the school and the one who originally posted the video, suggests “your going to want to watch the whole thing.”

Although the dance video was posted for fun, seeing their teachers virtually is becoming the new normal for students across British Columbia as education shifts online during the COVID-19 pandemic.
